As part of our Heritage Keepers project we had a stained glass artist come and visit our class last Friday to show us how stained glass is made. Kerryming Sun (of Sun Design Glass) explained all of the different elements to the class and showed us how to foil the coloured glass as well as how all the pieces are welded together. We were amazed at how easy it actually is to cut pieces of glass. We then had the opportunity to design a pane of glass inspired by our school garden that Kerryming is going to make into a piece for us. We have loved learning about the Irish stained glass artist Evie Hone and are looking forward to our last trip as part of the project – visiting her grave at St Maelruain’s next week!
