A nine-year drought came to a spectacular end as the boys’ football team were crowned league champions!

Our campaign began with a tough match against St. Mark’s. The game looked destined to end in a draw, but Blake stepped up and scored a dramatic last-minute winner to secure the victory.

Next came an incredible performance against St. Aidan’s, where we recorded an emphatic 8–0 win. The goals came from Kayden (2), Harley (2), Kyle, Darren, Stefan, and Tadhg.

Our final match was against St. Killian’s, and it would decide the league title. We were nervous as the entire school was watching and cheering us on. Oscar gave us the perfect start by scoring early in the match. Our defence then made several crucial challenges to keep us in the game. However, just before half-time, St. Killian’s equalised to make it 1–1. At that point, the match could have gone either way, and we knew we would have to work harder than ever if we wanted to become champions.

We came out for the second half with renewed determination. The game remained evenly balanced until Darren scored two crucial goals to put us in front. St. Killian’s responded with a goal of their own to make it 3–2, setting up a tense finish. Then, in the closing moments, Harley calmly converted a penalty to seal the victory.

When the referee blew the final whistle, everyone erupted with joy. Players, teachers, and supporters celebrated together as the boys’ football team became league champions for the first time in nine years.

Through hard work, determination, and teamwork, the 2026 school football team made history and returned the league trophy to the St.Thomas’.🏆⚽
