Our class got picked for Tallaght Library project. Barbara organised the trip to Kilmainham Gaol. We learned about the 1916 Rising and about the 7 leaders.

First we went to the chapel where Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett got married. The women sat on 1 side and men on the other side.

We were visiting the leaders’ cells. Some of them were Tomás McDonagh, Padraig Pearse, William Pearse. They were held in cells before they were executed.

Next, we went to the Stonebraker’s Yard. The prisoners had to break stones as a punishment and 7 of the leaders were executed there.

Finally, we went to the IMMA to have lunch and play. We walked through the old Military hospital. It was really good, exciting and interesting seeing the cells.
